Canes and Walking Sticks

For the discerning user a personalized experience with custom work is also available at no extra cost, however pre-made canes and walking sticks are also available for purchase.
Should you be interested in custom work it may take longer to complete depending on specialized material or processes required.
Please note: for those who may suffer from severe mobility issues it is recommended that a medical grade walking cane be used.
Head Pieces, Connectors and Ferrules
All canes and walking sticks are created with high quality materials and hardware.
Connectors and ferrules are of turned brass and there are options available for cane tips, each at varying function and cost.
A large selection of pre-made canes and walking sticks already come with select brass head pieces however customers may wish to provide their own either through supplies currently available or, for an even more personalized piece, by purchasing them directly through an on-line supplier and having them installed during the creation process.
Shafts
Shafts are made from select hardwoods including maple, cherry, oak and walnut. Each type of wood has its own advantages and disadvantages which can be discussed at the time of order. Shafts can be stained, treated with rubbed tung oil or left natural at the user's preference. All shafts are finished with satin lacquer for extra durability.
Should a custom order be requested exact measurements for the shaft will be taken to ensure a perfect fit for the specific user.
Versatility
Most walking sticks can be converted into canes for dual use. Depending on the user's requirements they can be made in three segments for convienient transportation or in two segments for added strength. Cost will depend on the number of segments used due to the extra material required. Cord wrapped hand grips and wrist strap can be added depending on the user's preference.
Pricing
Prices will vary depending on the materials used. While it is difficult to provide an exact price, the average price for a cane is approximately $60 and $140 for a walking stick (not including shipping and labour costs), although this is only an estimate. Prices will vary upward or downward depending on the style and materials used. An exact price will be given when the scope of the purchase is known.
I am a craftsman and take great pride in my work. As such, for all of my pieces I will only charge for materials and shipping. I will include the number of hours that were required for me to complete the project however I will not charge directly for them. In the unlikely event that you are unhappy with my work you need only pay the expense of the materials and shipping. If you you are satisfied you can compensate me for what you think my labour is worth on receipt of the piece.
As I craft your piece my ultimate goal is to create a beautiful, functional cane or walking stick that can be appreciated and passed on to future generations. Finally, I encourage all of my customers to give their cane or walking stick a name. It tends to make a journey all the more enjoyable!
